Data properties

Introduction

Data properties in Sutro define the characteristics of the data within your collections. By configuring properties effectively, you can ensure that your software captures and displays the right data in the right format. Properties can be customized via a popover menu accessible from the column header, while individual property values can be edited directly within table cells. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to configure and manage data properties in Sutro.

Configuring data properties

Edit a property

  1. Navigate to the Data section.

  2. Navigate to the desired collection where you want to edit a property.

  3. Click the desired column header in the table view to open a menu.

  4. Select Edit property from the dropdown menu.

  5. A window will open, listing all of the properties in the collection.

  6. Make your edits directly within the window.

Create a new property

  1. Navigate to the Data section.

  2. Navigate to the desired collection where you want to add a new property.

  3. Click any column header in the table view to open a menu.

  4. Select Edit property from the dropdown menu.

  5. A window will open, listing all of the properties in the collection.

  6. Click the + symbol in the upper left corner of the ****window to create a new property.

  7. Enter a new name for the property or accept the default name created.

  8. Select a type for the property or accept the default property type created.

Duplicate a property

  1. Navigate to the Data section.

  2. Navigate to the desired collection where you want to duplicate a property.

  3. Click the desired column header in the table view to open a menu.

  4. Select Edit property from the dropdown menu.

  5. A window will open, listing all of the properties in the collection.

  6. Click the Options menu (three dots) in the upper right corner of the window.

  7. Select Duplicate property from the dropdown menu.

  8. Enter a new name for the duplicated property or accept the default name created.

Delete a property

  1. Navigate to the Data section.

  2. Navigate to the desired collection where you want to delete a property.

  3. Click the desired column header in the table view to open a menu.

  4. Select Edit property from the dropdown menu.

  5. A window will open, listing all of the properties in the collection.

  6. Click the Options menu (three dots) in the upper right corner of the window.

  7. Select Delete property from the dropdown menu.

Hide a property

  1. Navigate to the Data section.

  2. Navigate to the desired collection where you want to hide a property.

  3. Click the desired column header in the table view to open a menu.

  4. Select Hide property from the dropdown menu.

  5. To manage the hidden status of multiple properties at once, click the Options menu (three dots) on the right hand side of the Data section.

  6. Select Show/hide properties from the dropdown menu.

  7. A dropdown menu will open, listing every property in the collection with a corresponding toggle indicating if it is hidden or visible.

  8. Select Hide all to hide all properties from the table view.

  9. Select Show all to make all properties visible in the table view.
